Backend Engineer
You will build the server-side logic and highly available APIs that drive Hubnest's core products. This role demands deep technical expertise to ensure our systems process real-time field operations data without latency or failure.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python, Go, or Node.js.
- Architect high-throughput data processing pipelines capable of handling large volumes of incoming field telemetry.
- Optimize complex PostgreSQL database queries to reduce latency in data retrieval and dashboard rendering.
- Implement data security and encryption protocols at the application level to maintain SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance.
- Write automated unit and integration tests to ensure code reliability before production deployment.
- Review peer code submissions, enforcing architectural standards, secure coding practices, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with frontend engineering teams to establish API contracts and negotiate data structures.
- Configure and manage cloud-native infrastructure components utilizing AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.
- Troubleshoot backend performance issues utilizing Datadog and AWS CloudWatch during peak operational traffic.
- Document system architecture, database schemas, and API endpoints in the internal engineering wiki.
- Mentor junior software engineers through pair programming sessions and technical code reviews.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Backend Software Engineer in a high-traffic production environment.
- 4+ years of daily programming experience in Python, Go, or Node.js.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience designing and optimizing relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL.
- 3+ years of experience architecting and deploying distributed microservices on AWS or GCP.
- 3+ years of experience utilizing Docker and Kubernetes for application containerization and orchestration.
- 3+ years of proven experience designing and documenting RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints.
- 2+ years of experience integrating automated testing frameworks within a CI/CD pipeline.
- 2+ years of experience working with caching layers such as Redis or Memcached to reduce database load.
- 2+ years of operational experience utilizing Datadog, Prometheus, or similar observability platforms.
- History of participating in an active on-call rotation for production incident response.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
